DESCRIPTION:Date: February 10\, 2026\n\nTime: 2:00 p.m.\n\nLocation: Polk County Public Libraries\, Saluda Branch\n\nSpeaker: Heyward Douglass\n\nJoin us for a discussion of the Monarch life cycle that allows the butterflies to fly north from Mexico through multiple life cycles until they reach southern Canada\, then return to their wintering grounds in southern Mexico in one long\, hazard-filled "super generation."  Heyward will also describe the group tour he took to view the Monarchs in the high mountains west of Mexico City\, in Michaocan (Mish- wa-kahn).\n\nHeyward received his B.S. in Biology and M.S. in Entomology from Clemson University. He worked as a naturalist at Oconee and Table Rock State Parks and with the Clemson Cooperative Extension Services. Later\, he served on the Board of Directors of the Foothills Trail Conservancy\, becoming Chair\, and later the Executive Director.
